Cinder Blocks

The back of our new lot borders a messy, junk-piled yard, which isn’t something that we’re going to want to see daily.  We’ve talked about bamboo to block our view, but I’m pretty scared of invasive plants after fighting ginger for 10 years.  That’s why I like the idea below:

This planter wall is totally innovative–it’s made from cinder blocks oriented different ways (plus, it seems really easy to make; read more about it here).  This would not only hide what we don’t want to see, it also might go nicely with a concrete and bottle fence in the front of the house.  I love the succulents planted within the blocks, but you really could grow anything here.  It needs a kick of color, but that might happen when the plants grow in a bit, or with bright chairs, planters, or something in front of it.

  1. Head my warning about bamboo. You, your children, and your children’s children will curse it! Forever!

    • I know, right? We were thinking of planting it in metal boxes underground to try to control it, but I don’t even know if that will work…
