Last weekend, while shopping with a friend in the beautiful Austin Treehouse store, we stumbled upon a pile of mismatched, glossy ceramic tiles. They looked so great all jumbled together, and that got us talking about the idea of using patchwork tiles (ideally remnants found on clearance) for projects. If you used the same size, it would be easy to make a backsplash or shower wall; it might even be reminiscent of ModWalls.

Different sizes would look kind of folksy, but you could balance the look with modern patterns or color schemes.
